The Universidad Internacional de Valencia (VIU) has held the official opening ceremony of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, focused on the importance of scientific knowledge and the ethical use of technology to respond to future social and educational challenges.
In her speech, Rector Eva Mª Giner defended the role of science, digital equity, and inclusive education as strategic pillars of the new academic year. She emphasized that the university must lead current debates — such as equality, diversity, and digitalization — and place technological resources at the service of people, leaving no one behind.
Among the priorities announced:
- Educational inclusion and attention to diversity
- Training and support for teachers

- Internationalization of research talent, especially with Europe and Latin America
The inaugural lecture was delivered by Dr. Ana Rodríguez, who highlighted the need for inclusive education that fosters empathy, participation, and learning for all students.
The event also included the awarding of 42 research six-year periods and two honorary recognitions, one of them posthumous, for their academic and scientific contributions.
