Marta Rodríguez, Dean of UNIE University at Metafuturo: “Training health professionals is key to meeting the challenges society currently faces”
The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at UNIE University and Doctor of Nursing, Marta Rodríguez, took part in the 2025 edition of Metafuturo, the innovation and future forum organized by Atresmedia, which brought together top-level leaders from the political, business, and academic spheres. Her contribution was part of an afternoon dedicated to reflecting on the present and future challenges of health, education, and society.
Rodríguez stressed that “we are facing a healthcare landscape in full evolution,” marked by population ageing, the rise of chronic diseases, the need for new technological skills, and the urgency of fostering innovation to build more sustainable and efficient systems. She also noted that in this context, university training in health sciences plays a critical role in preparing the professionals society will need in the coming years. With more than 25 years of experience in teaching, academic management, and research, she also highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration with clinical centres, healthcare institutions, and technology stakeholders.
In her conversation with journalist Ana Cuesta, Marta Rodríguez also presented the new UNIE Castellana Campus, a strategic 25,000 m² project located next to La Vaguada that will open its doors at the beginning of the year. The dean emphasized that Madrid is consolidating itself as a key hub for investment in research, technology, and health education, and that placing UNIE’s third campus there responds to the ambition to offer the most comprehensive health sciences training portfolio in the city centre. “The Castellana Campus will not only allow us to expand our educational offering, but also place us in an innovative urban environment, connected with hospitals, tech companies, research centres, and institutions that are leading the future of the healthcare system,” she explained.
UNIE University remains committed to expanding its degrees and specialised programmes, with the aim of consolidating healthcare training aligned with the real needs of the sector and capable of anticipating the challenges ahead. Marta Rodríguez’s participation in Metafuturo 2025 reaffirmed this vision: the transformation of the healthcare system necessarily begins with innovating in how we train those who will make it possible.
