UNIE University Joins the Tribute to Nursing Organized by La Razón
On Tuesday, November 18, at the headquarters of the newspaper La Razón, a tribute was paid to the nursing profession, highlighting its essential role in the present and future of Spanish healthcare.
The event underscored that nursing will be a crucial profession in the face of the rapidly aging population: by 2030, one in four Spaniards will be over 65, a demographic shift that will demand highly specialized care in both the healthcare and social spheres.
The structural shortage expected in the coming years was also addressed. According to the General Council of Nursing, Spain will need at least 100,000 additional professionals to reach the average ratios of the European Union, a figure acknowledged by the Ministry of Health itself.
At a gathering that brought together leading representatives of the profession, La Razón convened leaders from the General Council of Nursing, the Madrid Nursing Association, Satse and its foundation, ANDE, SEEO, and numerous institutional representatives. The event brought together hundreds of professionals and featured international figures such as the president of the Norwegian Nurses Organisation, Lill Sverresdatter, and the president of the International Council of Nurses, the Spaniard José Luis Cobos. The closing remarks were delivered by the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
UNIE University, and particularly its Faculty of Health Sciences, joined this tribute as a sponsor, seeking to support and give visibility to a profession essential for care and prevention, promoting an education aligned with nursing values and vocation. Other top-level entities such as FUDEN, ANDE, the General Council of Nursing, the Official College of Nursing of Madrid, SEEO, Satse, and other healthcare institutions were also among the sponsors.
