95% of professionals in Colombia are familiar with AI, but fewer than 1 in 10 receive company-provided training.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a key driver in Colombia’s labor transformation, according to the report Artificial Intelligence and the Employability of the Future, prepared by GAD3 for Planeta Formación y Universidades. The study, which examines the situation in Colombia, Spain, France, and Italy, reveals that 95% of Colombian professionals are familiar with at least one AI tool, although fewer than one in ten has received training from their company.
Professional use of AI in Colombia is high: 74% of executives and 69% of employees use it at work, while personal use reaches 83% and 74%, respectively. Most professionals still rely on self-learning, with 38% of executives and 34% of employees acquiring skills on their own initiative.
The report highlights strong optimism in Colombia regarding the labor risks associated with AI: 29% of professionals anticipate salary increases, the highest figure among the countries analyzed. However, more than 70% of executives warn that AI could widen inequalities and accelerate the transformation of professional profiles, particularly affecting routine or low-skilled jobs.
By sector, education leads in AI tool usage (79%), followed by business and healthcare, while the audiovisual sector shows the greatest progress in internal training (43%). The main barriers to implementation are lack of knowledge and budget constraints.
Experts agree that, although curiosity and knowledge about AI are high, the main challenge is turning that interest into formal training, corporate strategies, and solid ethical frameworks to fully harness the technology’s potential.
