The Universitat de Barcelona joins forces with Planeta Formación y Universidades and the Colegio Oficial de Diseño Gráfico de Cataluña
The Universitat de Barcelona, Planeta Formación y Universidades and the Colegio Oficial de Diseño Gráfico de Cataluña yesterday presented the UB Chair in Communication Design in the boardroom of the Historic Building. The collaboration between the university and both partners will promote training, research and knowledge transfer activities in the field of graphic design.
The main objectives of the chair include nurturing research and knowledge in the discipline, promoting the recruitment of emerging talent, fostering professional, legal and ethical development, and recognising and rewarding academic and professional excellence.

Carlos Giménez, CEO of Planeta Formación y Universidades, the Grupo Planeta higher education network, highlighted: "This chair reflects our desire to continue building public-private partnerships that promote talent, innovation and the connection between the academic world and the professional environment. Together with the Universitat de Barcelona and the Colegio Oficial de Diseño Gráfico de Cataluña, we promote education and research geared towards the real needs of society and the productive fabric, including in areas such as design, which play a growing role in social and economic transformation."
Some of the actions promoted by the chair include specific and explicit recognition of the heritage value of graphic design; the creation of an incubator for excellence in graphic design; the establishment of a thematic award in the Gaudeamus Projecta Awards; the implementation of design and training initiatives in line with the current needs and challenges of the professional market; and the organisation of conferences and workshops on the discipline and its responsibility to society.
