News |

Segundo Píriz, rector of UNIE Universidad, has participated in the Artificial Intelligence forum organised by the newspaper La Razón. Píriz took part in the panel of companies entitled 'Working with AI: The challenge for companies and people', together with speakers from other companies such as Improven, Airbus España and Adiss Informática.

During his speech, the rector of UNIE Universidad stressed the importance of the role of educational institutions, not only in training professionals who know how to handle these tools, but also in doing so with a critical and philosophical vision. Píriz assured that "we have to teach students to think so that they are not manipulable", and stated that AI can also help to reduce school dropout rates as one of its positive effects.

During his speech, the rector of UNIE Universidad highlighted how universities have a fundamental role to play in maximising the benefits of Artificial Intelligence in the classroom. An example of this, he said, are the projects that UNIE University is carrying out in the field of entrepreneurship in Generative AI or in the application of AI software in carrying out student evaluations.

The meeting was also attended, on behalf of UNIE University, by Marta Izquierdo, Director of Student Services; Eva Ropero, Vice-Dean of Social and Legal Sciences and Rubén Nicolás-Sans, Vice-Dean of Science and Technology.

The conference also addressed other issues such as the path that the new economy will take, the limits of artificial intelligence, how the education sector is facing its irruption and the ethical problems it raises.
